UPIA was formed in the year 2012 by Dr Anuradha Koduri, MD, FACOG, FPMRS(USA), with the encouragement, enthusiasm and active support of Dr P. Balamba, MBBS, MD, DGO, Prof Emeritus NTR University of Health Sciences, Retired Superintendent GMH Osmania and Dr. Evita Fernandez, MBBS, FRCOG, Managing Director, Fernandez Hospitals, Hyderabad.

The society was accepted as an affiliate of International Association of Urogynecology (IUGA) in February 2013. Our members also include Neurologists, Urologists, and physical therapists who will bring their own expertise in these matters to the table. India has been blessed with a very dynamic OBGyn community who have taken Obstetrics, Infertility and Minimally Invasive surgery to new heights. We would like to make a small beginning to promote education and the practice of Urogynecology among the physicians and patients. We hold quarterly CME Meetings and discuss a variety of topics in Urogynecology. We try to get faculty from other states, so that we know what is happening in Urogynecology across India. It is also a learning opportunity for the PG Students to create interest in them in Pelvic Floor Disorder. We have been a part of three international conferences in Urogynecology and have been acknowledged for our commendable work.

This is a membership body, meant to facilitate the study and analysis of all aspects of urinary tract and pelvic floor dysfunction in women. IUGA would give our members an opportunity for fellowships/observerships/training with eminent Urogynecologists here and abroad.

Our Vision

Our vision is to consistently update the standard and quality of Urogynecology services across the Indian subcontinent. We strive to seek affordable treatment options/modalities while following evidence-based protocols, keeping quality of life improvement as a treatment goal.
